A lot of stuff happened in this episode that just either didn’t make sense or made me think ‘Why would you do that?’
I see that Issa is driving lyft full time since she quit her job without a plan and has little money and no options. One of the people she picks up is Thug Yoda from season 1 and I immediately think oh they’re going to catch up or at least talk or something. Nope. They just scream because they are surprised to see each other and that’s it. He’s not even mentioned for the rest of the episode. It was just a cameo.
Issa is also preparing for Coachella and and has time to learn the formation dance, but she doesn’t have time to apply for jobs? She skipping out on doing her job at the apartment complex to go party like she can afford to lose that job. I understand that she feels like she needs a break and wants to see Beyonce, but she doesn’t have any money. How did she chip in for the airbnb? How did she eat at Coachella? That festival food is expensive. Maybe she bought the tickets beforehand, but she was sleeping on Daniel’s couch before and was barely getting by so I just don’t get it. There’s no way that I could go somewhere and enjoy myself knowing I don’t have the funds to enjoy myself.
Then, Issa is pressed about Nathan not contacting her and she not even that pressed about finding another job. She acts like can’t reach out to him first or that they have an established relationship when they clearly don’t. It was pure coincidence that they met last time. Their text thread isn’t even words. It’s just emojis. But as soon as he texts her, she changes all her plans to revolve around hanging out with him. He also gives her some dumb reason for not texting her like he didn’t want to come on too strong. And then when she opens up about her job situation, he gives her some basic advice saying she’ll come out in a better place. See through the BS sis.
Also, when the ferris wheel stopped an they started having sex, I thought it was pretty hot, but also disgusting. I would never think to do a thing in a ferris wheel with glass windows where people in the next cart can see you. Ferris wheels usually rock back and forth too so I would feel unstable like I could fall to my death at any moment. Plus, this is a ferris wheel at a festival in a field. There’s probably so much dirt in there and music festivals are crazy. Issa and Nathan probably weren’t the only ones that had that idea. That cart is probably teeming with bacteria. The cherry on top was the lack of condoms. Issa just doing it raw with a stranger she don’t really know nothing about. She better get tested when she get home.
Another thing that made me think ‘Oh no baby what is you doing?’ was when Issa, Molly, and Kelly took drugs from Nathan’s friends. (SN: The black friend was played by Gallant and the whole time I was wondering why this man looked familiar.) He could’ve told them it was molly and it could’ve been a date rape drug. Issa never even had molly before and she just trusting Nathan isn’t going to take advantage of her in this field full of people. I don’t understand. The only one that had common sense was Tiffany. Yea, sometimes it seems like she’s too bougie, but she’s clearly the sensible one of the group. She understands that they are all gettin older and the dynamic of their friendship will change when she has a baby. While everybody else, especially Issa, is out here living like they still in their twenties, Tiffany has to think about her future family. She can’t take shots and eat edible gummies from strangers.
The most hilarious part was when Kelly pulled that white girl down! Yes, you can’t really hold spots at a festival, but she didn’t have to be rude about it. She got what was coming to her. It was messed up that the security only kicked out the black people instead of everybody involved in the fight because they didn’t see how it started. Also, that white guy that tried to run at Molly is dumb and weak. Why would you try to put your hand on a woman? I wasn’t feeling Nathan’s friends in the beginning, but I’m glad they were there to help with the fight. That cop also didn’t have to tase Kelly for running towards the gate. He literally could’ve just stopped her and said you can’t go. The taser was excessive.
The annoying person of this episode was Molly. She was taking extra work for no reason when she knew was going to Coachella. She was whining about Dro when she should’ve been flirting with some new guys. Honestly, she was whining the whole time. Maybe high Molly is whiny.
Lawrence showing up at the end didn’t make me happy at all. I thought Issa was done with him and that arc was over. I swear Issa meets a different guy every episode, either in the form of exes or new people. I’m not even excited to see how Lawrence is about to come back into her life.
